Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (Gitelson et al., 1996)

It has a very similar formulation to NDVI, using the green channel instead of the red. It has a wider dynamic range than the NDVI and it is more sensitive to chlorophyll concentration. It can be used to monitor Leaf Area Index, biomass, and fractional vegetation cover.

The output image is masked to include only the pixels that are valid in the corresponding NDVI image.
